Welcome to all of our families to DeWitt Perry! I am Lisa Bates and have the privilege to serve as one of the Assistant Principals of this amazing campus!

I am a proud product of CFBISD. I attended Woodlake Elementary, Dan F. Long Middle School, and Newman Smith High School. I believe CFBISD is the best for providing each and every student and family with a supportive, safe, diverse, and rigorous educational journey. I believe DeWitt Perry is a family and treat each student, parent, and community member as a vital part of the success of the campus. I want the best for your student during their formative years of middle school through laying a strong foundation to be built on to be a successful adult.

I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University, College Station. I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching Science from the University of Texas at Dallas and finally my Principal certification from Lamar University.

My teaching career began in Richardson ISD, then moved to the Austin area, Spring (outside Houston), and finally back home to CFBISD. I have taught multiple levels of science and math and served as the Middle School Science Specialist in Spring ISD and CFBISD before moving to administration.

Outside of work, I love to travel, read, and spend time with my family. I am married to my college sweetheart with two adult children who each live outside of Texas (thus the travel!).

I view our families as a team to help your student succeed! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to a fantastic and limitless year!

Hello Eagle families and community!  My name is Matthew Smith, and I am excited to be one of your Assistant Principals (students M-Z).  Prior to Perry, I taught 8th grade Social Studies at Blalack Middle School for 6 years, and 5th grade Language Arts at Riverchase Elementary for four years.  My entire career has been with CFB, and I’m proud and honored to continue
that relationship with this amazing district and community.  I am married and have a son and a daughter, both of whom
attend CFB schools.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN, and after moving to Texas, discovered a true love for education.  I then pursued my Masters of Teaching degree from TWU in Denton, and finally my Principal certification from Lamar.

Working with middle school students and families has been the most fulfilling part of my professional life.  These years are so important for building confidence, creating useful skills and habits, and learning how to be a successful person both now and in the future.  Thank you, Perry families, for the pleasure of working with you and your students.  I am looking forward to the wonderful year ahead.
