Fifth Grade CFBISD Students Get Glimpse of Middle School Life

The month of March marks the time where students across the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District will learn all the great things that are happening at our excellent middle schools and high schools. Fifth-grade students in CFBISD are beginning to make connections to their future middle schools.

Elementary campuses have virtually opened their doors so fifth grade students can meet CFBISD middle schools, including their teachers, counselors, staff, and administrators. Through virtual presentations, fifth graders can learn about classes, programs, and extracurricular activities they can take part in next year. It is an exciting time to be a fifth-grader in CFBISD.

"The transition from 5th to 6th grade can be a difficult and scary one for students and parents. During COVID, it's been difficult to get future Eagles inside our campus, so we're taking the campus to them through fun videos, tours, social media posts, delivering free DeWitt Perry MS shirts and swag, and visiting the elementary campuses during lunch," said Adam Toy, Principal DeWitt Perry Middle School. "That way, by the time they get here, they are more familiar with our campus, our history, our culture, and our staff – and more importantly, we know them!"

Middle schools are even delivering SWAG to students to get them excited about becoming a future Bear, Bronco, Eagle, Falcon, Panther, or Viking. Schools want to ensure that your child has a positive transition to middle school in CFBISD.
