McWhorter Elementary and Bent Tree Bible Church Celebrates Thanksgiving with Day of Giving

According to history books, the first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 over a three-day harvest festival. It included 50 Pilgrims, 90 Wampanoag Native Americans, and lasted three days.

Fast forward to 2020, and families still gather together to enjoy Thanksgiving. McWhorter Elementary and Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District community partner Bent Tree Bible Church will make the holiday special for CFBISD families by providing Thanksgiving meals.

The first 400 families will receive a free frozen turkey and additional uncooked Thanksgiving sides. The Day of Giving: Feeding Families event is an annual tradition for McWhorter Elementary. The Bent Tree congregation and McWhorter staff work hard each year to make sure families have a wonderful holiday.

The event takes place at McWhorter Elementary on Saturday, November 14, starting at 9 AM until they run out of food. Each car will receive one box of uncooked food.
