Perry Cheerleaders Walk for a Cause

This past Saturday, the DeWitt Perry Middle School cheerleaders laced up their sneakers and joined hundreds of community members in the St. Jude Walk/Run, an annual event that raises awareness and funding for children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. With smiles, school spirit, and plenty of energy, our Perry cheerleaders proudly represented the Eagles while walking for a cause that touches families everywhere.

This year, Perry Middle School came together in a powerful way. Through donations from students, staff, families, and friends, our school raised over $750 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Every dollar raised goes directly toward providing lifesaving treatment and care for children, while also funding groundbreaking research that brings hope to families across the country and around the world.

For our cheerleaders, participation went beyond just showing up on Saturday—it was about service, leadership, and making an impact. They cheered, encouraged participants along the way, and brought their trademark energy to the event. Their presence not only added excitement to the walk, but also demonstrated what it means to be leaders in both school spirit and community involvement.

“St. Jude does incredible work for families, and it was amazing to see our students embrace the importance of giving back,” said a Perry staff member. “Raising over $750 is a huge accomplishment, but even more meaningful is the fact that our cheerleaders got to see firsthand the difference they can make when they come together.”

The St. Jude Walk is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a reminder that even small acts of kindness can lead to big change. By walking, cheering, and fundraising, our Perry Eagles showed that middle school students can be powerful advocates for hope and healing.

We are so proud of our cheerleaders and grateful to our entire Perry community for supporting this cause. Together, we are helping St. Jude ensure that families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food—because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
